About

The SDCMOA

The San Diego County Motor Officers' Association was founded in 1981 by Sergeant Willie P. Smith, a San Diego Police Department motorcycle sergeant, along with the help of several area law enforcement agency motorcycle officers. It was incorporated as a tax exempt 501(c7) organization under Internal Revenue Service regulations. The Association consists of present and past, active duty and retired motorcycle officers in the County of San Diego.

The Association was formed for the purpose of professional improvement and social and recreational enjoyment of all present and past law enforcement motorcycle officers in the County of San Diego. The Association also provides a means by which to educate the public of the contribution of the motorcycle officer in keeping the peace and providing for public safety.

The Association supports and sponsors not only its' members, but various law enforcement and charity organizations throughout the years. Each year the Association hosts events such as the annual "San Diego Law Enforcement Memorial Breakfast", the "San Diego County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony" and the annual "Terry Bennett Memorial Police Motorcycle Training and Competition." These events have had a positive impact on the community and the law enforcement family.

Membership is limited to: Regular Member - current or past motorcycle officers

Associate Member - any law enforcement officer

Honorary Member - those individuals selected by the SDCMOA who support the Association and its' goals.
